Afterdawn, Young Mood Club, Autospoon and The Rebels
Wednesday 1st February
Auto-Spoon A three piece hard rock band with a hint of alternatively funky. Auto-Spoon writes songs in a riff rock style, taking inspiration from bands such as Rage and Kyuss. Auto-Spoon was formed at college when the name was created by bassist and vocalist Max Gillard, guitarist Phil Glaser, and drummer Mike Mason. Auto-Spoon has previously played three gigs at the Yot Club in Raglan with multiple sets of covers and originals. They’ve also played a few house parties and a primary school fair. On the 4th of February they will be playing at Raglan’s Yot Club again. The bassist Max has played at the Kings Arms twice in his previous band Lucid, accompanying The Rebels and Kittyhawk.
Afterdawn A four man band playing mostly chilled out rock songs, drawing from a bit of John Butler and BRMC with a little bit of Led Zeppelin riffing. Afterdawn began playing acoustic guitars around a fire until eventually they summoned the strength to have a proper band practice. It shares two members with Auto-Spoon, bassist and vocalist Max and drummer Mike but also features vocalist and guitarist Logan Ransley and guitarist Jamie McNie. This will be Afterdawn’s first gig that isn’t an acoustic jam to drunk teenagers but the individual members have all had experience playing in the spotlight. They will be accompanying Auto-Spoon at Raglan’s Yot Club on the 3rd of December. Young Mood Club An alternative band with similarities to The Strokes and taking vast inspiration from The Rackets. Young Mood Club features Evan Sinton and Andre Smith on guitar and vocals, Jack Sharp on bass, and Hamish Jackson on drums. Young Mood Club placed third in the Auckland regional finals for the 2011 Smokefree Rockquest The Rebels are a hypnotic rock band alike to Rage Against the Machine and even some of Atmosphere. Kurt's strong auto-wah effect gives the band a distinct and capturing sound. They frequent the Yot Club in Raglan and are opening for the Datsuns in Hamilton on the 28th of January
